Research Interests: |
Dr Aaron Ceglar's research interests focus upon the development of pattern mining (data mining) algorithms and pertinent visualisations that facilitate the user interpretation of results derived from these algorithms. In particular, he is interested in the improvement in resultant system quality that can be achieved, within Knowledge Discovery systems, by improving the synergy or cooperation between the computer system and the user. This interest led to the development of a guidance enabled knowledge discovery framework, which opens up the previously automated black box analysis process, enabling the user to dynamically guide the analysis process at potentially fine levels of granularity, leading to a more pertinent, and hence better quality, result set.
Other research includes :
- The sharing of objects with collaborative environments.
- The merging of inference and hierarchical semantics within presentations.
- Various pattern mining algorithmic domains e.g.
- Association mining (including specialisation such as incremental and hierarchical).
- Clustering.
- Anomaly detection.
- Trend analysis.
- Belief Systems.
- The concept of communications mining and the adaptation or extension of established algorithms to handle domain nuances.
