Information for Future Students

Flinders has an enviable reputation for the quality of its courses and the quality of its graduates. For example, in a recent survey, 90% of those asked described our graduates as good to excellent. Rated particularly highly was the way our students think and how quickly they contribute to an organisation. Perhaps as a result of this, Flinders graduates have a higher full time employment rate and a higher graduate starting salary than the South Australian average, (Good Universities Guide 2008).

The quality of our teaching is reflected in a recent survey of employers where Flinders graduates rated more highly than those from other universities in 16 out of 17 graduate attributes surveyed.

A distinctive feature of the Flinders Engineering awards is the nationally recognised industry placement program. More than 100 local, national and international organisations support the program, which provides students with 20 weeks of structured industrial work experience. Students complete their final year of study having already gained a first-hand understanding of the role of the graduate engineer. They graduate with a proven on-the-job performance and many go on to work full-time with the company that provided their placement, or with another in the same industry.
